Well, It runs!
I've just about finished everything also. I am in the
process of moving so I had to pack all my junk up and throw FourBanger
on a trailer and tow it to a warehouse down south. So I'll be without FourBanger
til Aug 15th. That's when I take my final test for Cisco 4 and graduate
with my second degree! yay me!
These pics were taken in the middle of the day and damn
was it hot! That's why they look like an atomic bomb just went off. I got
a slight case of heat exhaustion but I got her running. Everything is in
place and she purrs like a kitten. It's only on 9 pounds of boost now though
(for testing purposes). It is just as fast now with 9 pounds of boost as
it was with 15. So I can't wait to turn the boost back to 15!
The car is an absolute blast to drive now. Did I mention
all the gauges work? hehe. She stays at 180 all day long. I know this because
I drove it all day long. LOL Man I love this car! The Intercooler works
beyond my expectations. It stays ICE Cold! Only by the passenger side upper
does it get warm. Everything else on it is cold to the touch. I don't have
the Bypass valve hooked up to work yet though. I have to custom make an
inlet tube to the mouth of the turbo so I can dump the bypass air into
it, but that will be made no problem once I get back home.
One thing I'd like to mention about Gainesville, This
place is the friggin' Bermuda Triangle when it comes to working on your
car! I had to pay some "buba" 10 bucks to drill a hole in some aluminum!
I can't wait to get back home! This project would've been done a year ago
if I had lived at home and had help from everyone there.
Well, back to the story. I used radiator hose for my boost
pipe. The hose is Gates and is 2 7/8 inner diameter. They say it is good
for 35 psi. I believe them also. Double reinforced wall and an outer webbing
make it one tough hose. The radiator is for a '66 Mustang. I bought it
new from Pepboys for 140 bucks. (OUCH) Oh well, It was the ONLY radiator
that would fit between the boost pipes and it is a 3 core with a lifetime
warranty. Guess I'll never have to buy another one of those things. (now
where's that damn receipt?) LOL
The upper radiator hose needs to be shortened. I have
the perfect solution for that though. A razor blade and some exhaust pipe
will do it.
Well, the stock hood isn't gona fit anymore. hehe. Oh
well. I have bought a hood for her that will.
I tried to fix the other cowl hood only to mess it up even more. It's really hard to do glasswork when all you have is a rubber block sander.
Here's my new hood. It is a bolt on and isn't CRACKED!
Which is always a plus. I bought it at a Fun Ford event held at the Gator
National track here in Gainesville. I got it for an awesome price which
is why I decided to buy it. Hell, you should know me well enough by now
to know that I'd settle for a hole cut in my hood rather than buying a
$350 dollar hood. So you know I got a good price on it. hehe.
This hood is made extremely strong! It is made by Cincinnati
Composites. I highly recomend their work since this is the best quality
I've seen in fiberglass hoods.
Ahh, here you look at my most recent purchace. I've been running on some ancient GoodYear 225/60/15's for a year now. Time for some new meats out back! These are Pepboys GLH tires. They cost 59 bucks a piece and are very soft. I've finaly put them on the rear and there is one hell of a difference! They Bark so loud! They smoke from just a couple revolutions of the wheel too. LOL very soft. I haven't put my posi in yet. I know, damn I'm a slacker! I'll work on that once I get down home.
Stay tuned! I'll have some better pics of my new setup in a few weeks. Moving sucks!
